排列成層的叫子實層，其中常有不育細胞結(jié)構(gòu)，那些比擔子長而大、形狀多種多樣的叫囊狀體，那些形如擔子但比擔子小的叫小擔子。有的擔子菌具有壁厚色深的剛毛。雙核在擔子中合并為雙相核，經(jīng)減數(shù)分裂，形成4個單相核，頂端生出4個小梗，小梗上生出4個擔孢子，各有1個單相核。也有生出1個、兩個或多個擔孢子的。也有作分叉狀分裂或生橫隔的擔子，叫做異擔子或半擔子。典型擔子無隔圓形或棒形，叫同擔子或無隔擔子。擔孢子斜生在小梗的頂端，與小梗接觸處有突起，叫臍突，成熟時此處分泌一滴水珠，一般認為與孢子放射有關(guān)。經(jīng)超顯微觀察，有的說是小梗細胞壁的延長生長，其中充滿液體，但也有的說不是液體而是氣體，因氣體爆炸而放射擔孢子。無性生殖編輯擔子菌的無性生殖是通過菌絲斷裂產(chǎn)生粉孢子、分生孢子或孢子芽殖，沒有有性器官，但也有人說銹菌的性孢子器和受精絲是有性器官。
